2nd September – The Thoresby Trophy

The Thoresby Trophy 2012

Sunday 2 September saw Dave, Steve, Bryan and Vicky head off to Northampton to represent Nottingham in the EMAS Senior Intercounties The Thoresby Trophy, hosted by Northamptonshire at Long Buckby Archery Club. We were one woman light as Sue was ill in bed with the flu.

The Thorseby Trophy is contested by 5 counties , Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.

“The lads” were shooting in the Longbow commpetition while Vicky was representing the recurve team. Shooting conditions were practically perfect so finding excuses for not shooting well would be a challenge.

In the end the longbow team came second to a Derbyshire team in which one of their archers, Dean Henderson Hurst shot a new National record! Congratulations to him.

Dave shot a very good 413 his second MB of the year. Steve had an off day by his standards and we await his new excuses to add to the excuse list. Bryan scored 217 which equalled his best score of the season for a York and was agonisingly 8 short of his white rose.

Unfortunately, the recurve team came last, but on a positive note,  Vicky shoot a score of  757 her second best Hereford score of the year.

We can’t wait for next year to try and get our revenge and the trophies!
