History

A group of like minded people got together at the end of 2010 to discuss their shooting requirements, this has led to the formation of Belvoir Archers, a new archery club in the South of the County where you can “shoot your bow” any day of the week.

The Founding Members of the club are:-

Steve Gamble

Sue Haynes

Bryan Haynes

Vicky Jones

Martin Jones

Dave Seymour

Mark Charlish

The 7 Founder Members then started the process of registering with GNAS, EMAS and Nottinghamshire Archery Society. The field was inspected in February by judge, Mario Stankovic and the green light given to start shooting by Archery GB in March.

To welcome the club into Nottinghamshire Archery Society, the County Chairman – Mike Spare was invited to open the club and blow the whistle on first arrows. Following this a Founder Members Shoot was organised, a National Round. All club members who held a current out door handicap were eligible to compete in the Founder Members Shoot, with one prize – the Founder Member Shoot Shield, awarded to the archer with the highest handicap adjusted score across all bow disciplines.

The first day of shooting saw the 7 Founder Members shooting for the Shield, along with Jane and John Styles, both club members, and Ann Spare who shot as a guest.

Belvoir Archers would like to thank Langar Cum Barnstone Parish Council for all their support with the new shooting ground, Mario Stankovic who helped with advice and field inspections and to Tony Drable of Custom Built Archery who supported us with the clubs initial targets, bosses and associated equipment.
