June 10th – Oregon Challenge and League Shoot 2

On Sunday 4 members represented Belvoir Archers in the second leg of the Notts Archery Society League competition at Sherwood Archers. The weather smiled on the tournament and some archers even went so far as to wear shorts!
The round was an American; 7 and a half dozen arrows spread evenly across 60/50/40 yards. The third leg is in August so watch this space!
This was also the second leg of the Oregon Challenge, a postal shoot against our fellow archers in the states. Teams were selected based on scores across the two shoots.
Vicky Jones missed out on the team but did well in the ladies recurve, lifting one of the Sharp Goblets.
Bryan Haynes and Steve Gamble both made the longbow team, Steve with the highest longbow score of 1151; subject to ratification this is a new Nottinghamshire record for this shoot.  WIth Steve posting the highest longbow score, it means that he wins the Longbow Trophy – or as Steve calls it “The Stick Man”.

At the end of the shoot all we heard at the end of the shoot was “The Stick Man is coming home, The Stick Man is coming home”

Steve Gamble with "The Stick Man"

Vicky Jones with the Bath and Weston Horn and Sharp Goblet
