15th August – 3 week review – tournaments and a marriage

Well, it has been a busy 3 weeks since our last post on the web, we have had archers all over the region shooting.
During this period, Dave Seymour married his lovely bride – Mel – congratulations to you both.
The county team were in action at the Tri-Counties at Burton Bridge, with the longbow team coming second. The Longbow team for the Tri- Counties were Steve Gamble, Mark Charlish and Bryan Haynes, Dave was away on honeymoon duties in the sunny channel islands. The county team’s next outing will be at the Thoresby Trophy in Lincoln on September 4th, with Steve, Dave and Mark shooting longbow. Sue Haynes was also part of the recurve team in the Tri- Counties and will be taking her place at the Thoresby.

During this period, Vicky Jones started her climb back to shooting her recurve bow, after an operation earlier this year. Hopefully, we should start to see Vicky duing the winter season and ready for next season outdoors.

The third and final county league shoot was shot at Wilford Bowmen on 14th August. After a 3 tournament battle with City & Sherwood archers, the tables were finally settled with City & Sherwood taking the Notts Longbow Handicap trophy, but Belvoir Archers team (Martin Jones and Bryan Haynes) took the Notts Longbow Pure Score trophy. A good start for the club in their first year.
Congratulations to all county archers who took part in the league shoot.
